Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: Troon has been selected to manage Bowie Golf Club, an 18-hole municipal facility in Maryland.
The golf club had been closed to play since the start of October after the city’s lease with the previous operator ended on September 30. Indigo Golf Partners, a Troon company, officially took over management of the club’s golf operations, food and beverage, golf course agronomy, and marketing on November 1 and immediately re-opened the golf course to play.
“We are excited to partner with the City of Bowie to manage Bowie Golf Club,” said Justin Smith, Regional Director of Operations, Indigo Golf Partners.
“The club has a long history of providing affordable recreation to the residents of the city of Bowie and we look forward to continuing that tradition. With the course closed for the past month and a lack of historical information, we are having to start from scratch.
“Our team is working on new phone and computer systems, developing a new website and mobile app, and getting the course ready for the rest of this season and next. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through this transitional phase,” added Smith.
Bowie is located northeast of Washington DC, with the golf club situated on the city’s north side.
Bowie Golf Club’s 18-hole golf course was designed by Frank Murray and Russell Roberts and first opened for play in 1959 under the name Belair Golf & Country Club. In 1982, the club’s name was changed to Bowie Golf & Country Club.
The course has mature trees lining the fairways, Bent grass greens and plays to a par of 70, measuring 6,142 yards from the championship tees. The club also features an expansive practice range, a putting green and a pavilion picnic area.
Troon is an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
