Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: Troon has acquired Peter Burwash International (PBI), a leading tennis management company whose portfolio includes over 30 properties globally.

Founded in 1975, Peter Burwash International specialises in tennis instruction, programme development, marketing, operations and daily tennis activities for five-star resorts, hotels and tennis clubs worldwide.

PBI Founder and Chairman, Peter Burwash, a former Canadian champion, has been an icon in the tennis industry for over 45 years as a world-renowned coach, widely sought after motivational speaker, tennis TV commentator and author of eight books.

Recognised for its innovative Tennis For Life instruction and customer service, PBI directs tennis programmes for exclusive properties in North America, Hawaii, Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

“PBI is the perfect addition to our Troon family of brands as we continue to grow our racquet sports division,” said Tim Schantz, President and CEO, Troon, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“PBI’s focus on providing quality programmes and professionals, and passion for customer service is consistent with Troon’s mission. When we add PBI’s global network of resorts and clubs to our existing Cliff Drysdale Tennis (CDT) portfolio, it creates inside of Troon the largest third party operator of racquet sports in the United States and provides exciting and numerous opportunities for PBI, CDT and Troon associates, members and guests to enjoy racquet sports around the world,” added Schantz.

PBI will continue to operate under the Burwash brand and be run by the same culture and leadership that has existed since its founding. The purchase strengthens Troon’s commitment to be the worldwide leader in the racquet sports industry, adding to the 2018 acquisition of Cliff Drysdale Tennis, America’s largest tennis management company.

Troon’s family of brands includes Troon Golf, Troon Privé, Troon International, Indigo Sports, CADDIEMASTER, True Club Solutions, Cliff Drysdale Tennis and RealFood Hospitality, Strategy and Design. The acquisition brings together CDT and PBI, making them the number one tennis operator in the world.

“Troon aligns with our commitment to quality service and providing our clients with the utmost value,” said Rene Zondag, President of Peter Burwash International. “This relationship brings immense support to our existing clients without compromising on the standard we have delivered for decades. We are thrilled to join the Troon family and appreciate the dedication and commitment of all PBI team members and partners who have made our great company what it is today.”

Don Henderson, CEO and President of Cliff Drysdale Tennis, said: “We are very excited to welcome PBI to the Troon family and I look forward to working together to grow our racquet sports business. PBI’s methodology and standout service for their clients has always been something I’ve admired, and we will be working closely to elevate racquet experiences worldwide.”
