Scottsdale, Arizona, United States: Troon Founder and Executive Chairman Dana Garmany has been honoured by the PGA of America and the Southwest Section of the PGA, receiving the PGA Executive of the Year award and the Southwest PGA Golf Professional of the Year award in separate ceremonies.

Under Garmany’s leadership, Troon has become the largest employer of PGA Professionals in the world.

On November 2, the PGA of America recognised its 2020 National PGA of America Award recipients in a special awards ceremony attended by the friends, family and colleagues of the honorees.

The ceremony, which was delayed a year due to the pandemic, served as a kick off of the 105th PGA Annual Meeting at the Wisconsin Centre in Milwaukee.

Garmany was honoured as the first PGA Golf Executive of the Year, headlining the class of 12 PGA Professional honorees recognised for excellence, accomplishment and contribution to their sections and their communities.

On November 11, Garmany was the 47th recipient of Southwest PGA Golf Professional of the Year award, the highest annual honour bestowed by the Southwest PGA on a PGA Professional.

Garmany headed the 2020 Southwest PGA Awards class (also delayed due to the pandemic) for ‘qualities of leadership, strong moral character, and a substantial record of service’ to the Southwest PGA and the game of golf.

Garmany has more than 35 years of industry experience developing and operating golf facilities worldwide. He has been named by Golf Inc, Golf Digest and Golfweek as one of the most powerful and influential people in golf.

Garmany founded Troon in 1990, and today serves as the management company’s Executive Chairman.

He has received numerous honours during his career, including the DeKalb County Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, Southwest Section PGA Hall of Fame, the Arizona Golf Hall of Fame, the University of Alabama Hospitality Hall of Fame, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the HSBC International Golf Forum.

He also serves on the Cabinet Campaign Committee at the University of Alabama and holds a BS Degree in Restaurant and Hospitality Management from the University.

His leadership at Troon helped create a company that continues to lead and set standards for domestic and international daily fee, resort, and private golf courses.

The PGA of America and Troon are both Executive Members of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
