Best of Times for Els Club Desaru Coast

Els Club World Golf Awards Winner 2021 02

Desaru Coast, Johor, Malaysia: The Valley Course at The Els Club Desaru Coast has been named as Malaysia’s Best Golf Course for a second consecutive year at the World Golf Awards.

This global recognition was conferred at the eighth World Golf Awards Gala Ceremony in Dubai. Part of the World Travel Awards, the World Golf Awards serve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations.

Set within Desaru Coast, recently listed in Time Magazine as one of the World’s Greatest Places of 2021, The Els Club Desaru Coast is made up of beautifully manicured championship Valley and Ocean golf courses surrounded by a wide variety of wildlife species in the southeast of Johor, inter-twining nature and panoramic views to offer a memorable experience.

The Valley Course was designed by three-time Major champion Vijay Singh in collaboration with four-time Major champion Ernie Els’s design company and is located adjacent to the 27-hole championship Els Club Ocean Course.

“This is the best of times for The Els Club Desaru Coast. Huge credit goes to the golf course maintenance team led by Sean Kinsley, our Group Director of Agronomy, for their relentless hard work and dedication in delivering a world class golfing experience every time,” said Steven Thielke, General Manager of The Els Club Desaru Coast, a Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“With international travel set to gradually resume in the upcoming months with standard health and safety operating procedures being adhered to, this is the perfect time for Malaysian golfers and golfers from across the region to discover The Els Club Desaru Coast and explore Desaru Coast for its great wide open spaces,” added Thielke.

In addition to breathtaking vistas of the South China Sea, lakes and jungles, it’s common to spot and experience wildlife in its natural habitat. There are otters, dusky leaf monkeys, crab-eating macaques and white-handed gibbons, plus more than 100 different species of birds, including fish eagles, hawk eagles, black-winged kites, herons, whistling ducks, oriental pied hornbills, and eight different kingfisher species.

Desaru Coast is also home to an array of world-class hotels, including Asia’s first One and Only, Malaysia’s first Anantara Desaru Coast Resort and Villas, The Westin Desaru Coast Resort, Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast and the region’s largest water park, Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast.
