NGCOA Releases Publication for Aspiring Golf Course Owners

Charleston, South Carolina, United States: The National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) has released its latest research publication, So, You Want to Own a Golf Course? — A Must-Read Primer for Any Aspiring Golf Course Owner.

NGCOA, which specifically represents golf course owners around the United States through education and advocacy efforts, developed this comprehensive guide providing foundational knowledge related to golf course ownership to those who may be considering ownership.

This publication resulted from numerous inquiries to NGCOA from both its members and non-members across a wide range of disciplines.

Within its 50 pages are 10 chapters that take a deep dive into topics such as The Lay of the Land for Prospective Buyers; Are You the Right Person to Own a Golf Course?; How Exactly Does the Golf Course Business Work?; Resources for Course Buyers, Before and After Purchase and many more.

New or aspiring owners can only benefit from advice from those who, in many cases, learned the hard way what did or did not work. Those interested in this guide can download the publication at no charge at ngcoa.org/SYWTOAGC.

“Only those who have written a cheque – or taken on a mortgage – to buy a golf course and have lived it for a period of time can truly understand the risk and reward of owning a course,” said Jay Karen, Chief Executive Officer of the NGCOA.

“No one should go into ownership lightly, and in this book we hear from several owners and experts who give the unvarnished truth,” he added.

So, You Want to Own a Golf Course is the go-to primer for anyone aspiring to purchase a golf course,” said John Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Brown Golf Management.

“As an NGCOA member and multi-course owner, I can personally attest to the wide range of research and due diligence,” he added.
