Major Recognition for Capillary Bunkers

San Diego, United States: Capillary Bunkers’ reputation as the world’s leading bunker liner has been enhanced at professional golf’s two most recent Major championships.

The Lake Course at the Olympic Club in San Francisco hosted last week’s US Women’s Open, won by Yuka Saso of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the South Course at Torrey Pines is staging the 121st US Open this week.

Common to both venues is that they’ve installed Capillary Bunkers.

At Torrey Pines in southern California, Course Superintendent Rich McIntosh has overseen Capillary Bunkers being installed on both of their courses. The North Course was installed in 2016 and the South Course, where the battle for the US Open is taking place, was installed in 2019.

One of the most storied championship venues in America, The Olympic Club has always been famed for the difficulty of its bunkers. The Lake Course was equipped with Capillary Bunkers in 2016.

The project was led by Director of Maintenance Troy Flanagan and carried out by contractor Frontier Golf.

More than 800 golf courses around the world have built or renovated their bunkers with Capillary Bunkers, an Associate Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
