Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The Professional Golfers’ Association of Malaysia (PGAM) raised RM24,500 from the inaugural PGAM Invitational Pro-Am.
The event was staged over the East Course at TPC Kuala Lumpur, a Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
The money will be used to help fund the association’s activities, which include new efforts to create public engagement programmes.
The entry fee was RM5,000 per flight of three, who were teamed up with a PGAM professional.
“We are quite happy with how the PGAM Invitational Pro-Am turned out. This was the first time we’ve organised a pro-am. Of course, there’s room for improvement, but generally all our guests were happy with the event,” PGAM president CM Chong told ParGolf.
“The PGAM would like to express our utmost gratitude to all those who supported the event. We plan to organise another fund-raiser after Hari Raya as we need the money to organise activities and programmes for our members,” he added.
Chong was elected as the new PGAM president in February. The association currently has a membership base of around 300, comprising slightly over 100 touring pros and the rest made up of vocational (teaching) pros.
