Phuket, Thailand: Aquella Golf and Country Club, the newest addition to Thailand’s sparkling array of golf courses, has joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).
Aquella is a beach, golf resort and country club located on the pristine Andaman Sea coastline at Thai Muang Beach, 40 minutes north of Phuket International Airport.
Majority-owned by Pacific Century Premium Developments, the development sprawls over 177 hectares and includes the former Thai Muang Golf Club’s rejuvenation, new hotels, residential villages, and yacht club.
Surrounded by lush pine forests and a profusion of exotic, tropical plants, the 7,000-yard layout was reconstructed by Pacific Coast Design (PCD). Absolute Golf Services (AGS), like PCD an Associate Business Member of the AGIF, is entrusted with managing the club.
“The facility has been redesigned and developed into a beachfront golf course with a fun and challenging layout set amongst a luxurious residential complex. It’s our intention for the facility to set new standards of excellence in Phuket and Phang Nga,” said James Shippey, Managing Director of AGS, who signed a pre-opening and long-term management contract in 2019, during the early stage of construction and redevelopment of the old facility.
Shippey said the course will operate as a semi-private facility but will be fully open to the public and deliver an unrivalled hospitality experience from golf course through to the food and beverage operations.
Shippey added that memberships will soon be available, with attractive introductory rates, starting from one-year memberships. Only a limited number of memberships are available across all categories.
With idyllic views of the golf terrain, Aquella offers an exclusive setting for private social gatherings in a friendly, informal atmosphere, while the clubhouse has an extensive range of family-friendly amenities.
While Aquella’s Beach Club opens directly onto 2.5 kilometres of white sands, The Spa at Aquella, dedicated to wellness and the rejuvenating quality of aqua, accentuates the venue’s holistic experience.
Separated geographically from Phuket by the Sarasin Bridge, Aquella enjoys an endless stretch of unspoiled sands along Phang Nga’s western coast in a tranquil, upscale neighbourhood comprising just a handful of exclusive residences and five-star resorts.
Beyond Aquella’s verdant rainforest backdrop, the area is blessed with a series of breathtaking, protected eco parks stretching from the world-famous Phang Nga Bay to Khao Lak, where you can go white water rafting or elephant trekking.
Offshore, are the world class diving sites of Similan and Surin with their spectacular ocean wonders.
Eric Lynge, the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Congratulations to Pacific Coast Design and Absolute Golf Services for their contributions to turning this project into reality. We’re pleased to welcome Aquella Golf and Country Club as part of the Federation.”
Aquella is the fifth Thai club to become a Facility Member of the AGIF, following in the footsteps of Amata Spring Country Club, Banyan Golf Club, Laguna Phuket Golf Club and Thai Country Club.
