Triumphs for Troon International Properties

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: A total of 16 Troon International global properties savoured success at the 2020 World Golf Awards.

Categories included Europe’s Best Golf Course, Oceania’s Best Golf Course and the UAE’s Best Golf Course.

The World Golf Awards celebrate world-class golf courses and golf destinations, acknowledging excellence within golf tourism. Voted for by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry as well as golf tourism consumers, they recognise a collection of the finest venues around the globe.

From a Troon perspective, the highlights of the awards were the recognition of the PGA National Czech Republic as Europe’s Best Golf Course and Brookwater Golf and Country Club as Oceania’s Best Golf Course.

“To have 16 Troon-managed properties, across 14 countries, recognised in this year’s World Golf Awards is an incredible achievement,” said Mark Chapleski, President of Troon International, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

He added: “It is a testament to the hard work of the Associates who deliver the Troon standards whether that be through agronomic practices, golf operations or service level. Through their efforts we have been able to ensure these properties are maintained to the highest standard and befitting a reputation as some of the best in the world.

“Many congratulations to all of our ownerships and renowned course designers whose exceptional visions created each of these award-winning courses.”

PGA National Czech Republic, a Kyle Phillips design, opened for preview play this year, ahead of an official grand opening in spring 2021. The course, operated under Troon Privé, is also a trail-blazer in environmental practices and sustainable golf design.

Brookwater Golf and Country Club features an ambitious Greg Norman design weaving up and down rolling terrain, complementing the natural landscape. Each hole features distinctive Australian bushland landscapes.

Also featured in the 2020 awards as Cambodia’s Best Golf Course was the ‘East Course’ at Vattanac Golf Resort. The Sir Nick Faldo-designed layout in Phnom Penh showcases an imposing character and striking identity, receiving high praise from golfers around the world since opening in May 2019.

Saudi Arabia’s Best Golf Course, Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, hosted an historic Ladies European Tour double header this month – the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF and the Saudi Ladies Team International.
