Bangkok, Thailand: Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) Board Member James Shippey has been featured in the September edition of The CEO Magazine Asia.
Bangkok-based Shippey is Managing Director of Absolute Golf Services (AGS), an Associate Business Member of the AGIF.
“I’m honoured and proud for AGS and myself to be featured and associated with The CEO Magazine for their September 2020 Asia Edition,” said Shippey, a British PGA Professional by trade, whose career path has led him to Thailand via the Middle East and from the fairways to the boardrooms.
AGS is an industry-leading management company that operates throughout Asia, specialising in golf, recreation and hospitality management.
In his role as Managing Director, Shippey is responsible for further enhancing business operations of the company’s current portfolio of managed clubs and facilities under consultation as well as growing the AGS business portfolio across the region.
“Keep your focus and drive for excellence,” said Shippey. “Even during the tough times, opportunities for growth professionally and personally are everywhere – if you are open minded and look for them.
“Always remember, your people make things happen in any business at every level. Invest in them, help them learn, develop and grow. There really are no limits.”
Shippey gained his qualifications in the United Kingdom before moving to Dubai in 1999 for a position at the Emirates Golf Club.
He spent the next 17 years in the Middle East in various operational roles, from golf coaching to the management side of things. His first general manager role was at Taba Heights Golf Resort in Egypt. He then moved back to Dubai as General Manager at Al Badia Golf Club, prior to moving to his current role in Thailand with AGS in 2015.
