Singapore: Brain Pool, a company that is pioneering drone technology, has joined the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) as an Associate Business Member.

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “In the midst of Covid-19, implementing remote golf course management has become a necessity. Fortunately, drone technology is providing this leverage in maintaining a golf course and has shown to be invaluable in operational expenses.

“With Brain Pool to the fore, a new light is being shone on drone technology in the golf industry.”

A young team of data scientists, software engineers and drone pilots who have a passion for new technology and innovative business solutions, the principals at the company have worked in research for more than 10 years and the vision from Kai Voges and Cullen Owens came together while they were PhD students in the Netherlands and has crystallised in Singapore. 

Owens said: “Over a decade ago when the first smartphone arrived, many people might not have predicted how much it would change the world. We believe the utility of drones has not yet been fully realised and 10 years from now, everyone will utilise unmanned aerial devices, either in delivery, surveying or other fields. It’s being used more by golf clubs now and we see that as a growth area. 

“As technology development continues to accelerate, we plan to serve businesses to integrate this technology into their future. By starting out in Southeast Asia, a region specifically open to new technologies, we plan to deliver standardised service for international corporations. The aim is to deliver high quality standards and safe procedures across the world.”

Voges said: “Our story began several years back as research scientists with a focus on data analysis and network theory. We have the vision of an international service provider with standardised procedures and code of conduct that is beneficial to our partners and customers.

“The many challenges as scientists include the integration of state-of-the-art technology for the capture of high precision data and to process these data creating meaningful outputs. This includes the implementation of custom software and applied analytics.

“To capture the data we needed, we had to adapt the technology in a way that would answer the questions at hand, not change the questions. Based on this experience we believe that we can assist our clients by offering unique customised solutions with high precision, using unmanned aerial vehicles as well as imaging and analysis techniques.”
