PGA National Properties Set for International Golf Travel Market

Marrakech, Morocco: The PGA of Great Britain and Ireland will be hosting eight of its PGA National Properties at this week’s International Golf Travel Market (IGTM).

To be staged from October 14-17 in Marrakech, IGTM is one of the largest meeting events in golf with more than 1,000 golf travel professionals from around the world set to attend.

It’s the first time the four-day conference has been held in Marrakech. The fast-emerging golf destination welcomed more than 11 million tourists in 2017 and now boasts 37 golf courses.

The focus of IGTM is to provide the global golf travel industry with a platform to conduct real business and gain valuable industry insights.

The theme for 2019 will be ‘Grow Golf Together’ to highlight how international golf travel suppliers can widen their appeal to a more diverse audience, including women and millennials.

It’s the second year The PGA will be attending IGTM and this time around they will host more clients than ever before. Liam Greasley, PGA Executive Director – Commercial, will be in attendance along with Guy Moran, The PGA’s Head of Property & Development.

Attending clients are the PGA Nationals of Cyprus (Aphrodite Hills Golf), Czech Republic (The Oaks), England (The Belfry Hotel & Resort), Ireland (Slieve Russell Hotel), Italy (Argentario Golf Resort & Spa), Poland (Modry Las), Scotland (Gleneagles) and Turkey (Antalya Golf Club).

Liam Greasley

Greasley said: “The PGA is delighted to host eight of its PGA National clients at the IGTM. We hope they will secure strong business from the attending travel buyers and we welcome enquiries from other golf resorts interested in joining this elite club of iconic golf properties.”

The PGA first met Argentario Golf Resort & Spa at the 2018 IGTM event and less than six months later that five-star Tuscan resort joined the Association’s growing list of branded resorts as the ‘PGA National Italy’.

Moran added: “The PGA is keen to expand its PGA Branded Properties portfolio and we look forward to discussing opportunities with other potential resorts at the IGTM in Marrakech.”

The PGA of GB&I is an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
