Colombo, Sri Lanka: Golfers can now indulge in a golf holiday to Sri Lanka with Asia’s largest golf tour operator, Golfasian.
As part of an on-going expansion and increasing requests from return customers, Golfasian is now offering Sri Lanka as an additional golf holiday destination to choose from in Asia.
Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean has just been named number one in Travel + Leisure’s World’s ‘Best Islands in the World’.
“No matter how many images one looks at or video clips one browses through, the actual experience can never be matched,” said Pascal Orczech, Director of Business Development with Golfasian, a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
He added: “A small island perhaps, but the enormity of its diverse, complex, exotic cultures, hydraulic civilisation, ancient temples, bustling towns, delectable cuisine – home to the internationally famous Sri Lankan crab, its climate – its higher elevation chill and sun kissed beaches, journeying along meandering roads and dusty gravel tracks within its national parks. The experience is always ‘new’ and it makes this island a ‘giant’.
“Golfers travelling to Sri Lanka with Golfasian can rest assured to enjoy the same high-level service standards and attention to detail they are used to in our core destinations Thailand and Vietnam.”
First introduced at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, the island is home to four 18-hole courses, each of them located at different elevations against a backdrop of stunning landscapes.
The association with golf dates back over a century. The Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, instituted in 1891, follows the British Amateur as one of the oldest national championships.
The four picturesque courses are located in Colombo, Digana, Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota.
Undoubtedly the favourite is the tranquil setting of the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, flanked by mountains and valleys and designed by the award-winning Donald Steel & Co.
