Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club will play host to next month’s Malaysia Turf and Club Management Seminar.

The one-day event (September 30) is organised by the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) in partnership with the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Malaysia (GCSAM) and the Golf Course Managers Association of Malaysia (GCMAM).

Held under the auspices of the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), a half-day seminar will be followed by a field day at which displays of the latest equipment from a variety of companies will be featured.

Easily accessible from Singapore, Horizon Hills opened in 2008. The club’s award-winning 18-hole course is the centrepiece of a 1,200-acre freehold township development in the heart of Nusajaya, a key flagship zone within the Iskandar Development Region.

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We have put together an outstanding line-up of speakers for what promises to be an insightful event at Horizon Hills where the focus of discussions will be related to various different renovation topics.”

Sharing their knowledge with delegates will be Owen Hester, Founder of Green Dynasty, Mark Isley, Director of Agronomy at Singapore’s Laguna National Golf & Country Club, and Phil Ryan, Founder of Pacific Coast Design.

Also among the speakers are Matthew Murray, Managing Director of Singapore’s Champions Golf, and Vijayakumar Raj, former Assistant General Manager at the American Club Singapore.

Emphasising the AGIF’s aim to support the entire industry, Lynge confirmed that the field day at Horizon Hills is open to members and non-members of the Federation.

Lynge said: “We are grateful for the support we have received from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Malaysia, the Golf Course Managers Association of Malaysia, the Malaysian Golf Association, the staff and management at Horizon Hills and all sponsors.”

In 2018, the AGIF organised Turfgrass Management Seminars and Field Days and Club Management Mini Summits in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

To date this year, events have been held in Pattaya, Manila and Jakarta, while the AGIF has also staged Certificate in Greenkeeping modules in Malaysia and Thailand.
