To be held at Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub on August 20-21, the event is expected to attract more than 100 golf course managers, course superintendents, club managers, greenkeepers and mechanics from across Indonesia.
It will be the sixth time the event has been staged in collaboration with the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).
Juhana Arif, the ASPGI President and Golf Course Superintendent at Emeralda Golf Club, said: “The Asosiasi Superintendent Padang Golf Indonesia remains committed to offering educational opportunities for our members around the country.
“With developments in golf course maintenance continuing at a rapid pace, it is imperative that superintendents in Indonesia are constantly upgrading their knowledge and skills.
“In that regard, the ASPGI is pleased once more to work together with the Asian Golf Industry Federation to showcase speakers from home and abroad, who are experienced practitioners in their respective fields in golf course maintenance.”
Arif will be among the keynote speakers at the two-day gathering which will address a variety of topical issues ranging from golf course rejuvenation programmes and turfgrass diseases to labour efficiency and manpower capacity.
There will also be presentations on Machinery versus Manpower and Green Speeds – Myth versus Fact.
Joining Arif at the podium will be two other prominent Indonesian course superintendents – Yulius Widodo (Royale Jakarta Golf Club) and Achamd Zakaria (Rainbow Hills Golf Club).
Overseas speakers include Mike McKenna, Course Superintendent at Thailand’s award-winning Amata Spring Country Club, and Brad Revill, Managing Director BRT – Independent Agronomic Consulting.
“Our thanks go to Juhana Arif and the Asosiasi Superintendent Padang Golf Indonesia for their support in organising this important event … and for their determination to keep improving,” said Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, who will provide an update on the success of the Certificate in Greenkeeping (CIG) programme.
Lynge said: “Aimed at supporting education among golf course superintendents and improving conditioning of golf courses, the AGIF’s Certificate in Greenkeeping is progressing well.
“The initiative, the first of its kind in Asia, was launched last year in partnership with the New Zealand Sports Turf Institute and with backing from The R&A.
“Interest in the Certificate in Greenkeeping programme around Southeast Asia has been strong and we’ve enjoyed full intakes at events in Malaysia and Thailand. We’re confident the programme will pick up further momentum around the region in the coming months.”
Education Partners in the CIG programme are Jacobsen, Jebsen & Jessen, John Deere, Syngenta and Toro, all Executive Members of the AGIF, a not-for-profit organisation boasting more than 100 member companies from all areas of the golfing industry.
While turfgrass issues will be the focus of attention at Gading Raya on August 20, the field day will take place on the morning of August 21, at which companies will have the opportunity to showcase their latest golf course maintenance products.
Emphasising the AGIF’s aim to support the entire industry, Lynge confirmed that the field day is open to members and non-members of the Federation.
Located in the heart of Gading Serpong, Tangerang, a master-planned residential community, Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub is easily accessible by the direct interchange from the Jakarta – Merak tollway, 25 minutes from Semanggi.
Gading Raya is an oasis of scenic, private parkland which complements the features of the golf course whose forgiving fairways, shimmering lakes, subtle bunkers and manicured greens are the hallmark of Gading Raya Padang Golf & Klub.
In 2018, the AGIF organised Turfgrass Management Seminars and Field Days and Club Management Mini Summits in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
In the first half of this year, in addition to events in Pattaya and Manila, the AGIF has staged Certificate in Greenkeeping modules in Malaysia and Thailand.
