Amata Friendship Cup’s High Definition Boost

Bangkok, Thailand: PPTV HD 36, a free-to-air television broadcast in high definition across Thailand, has formed a unique partnership with the Amata Friendship Cup, the world’s first truly mixed match play golf event.
Having previously worked with the Premier League and Bundesliga in European football, bringing live matches to millions of viewers across Thailand, PPTV HD 36 will now showcase the inaugural Amata Friendship Cup (December 21-23).
Featuring leading players from Thailand and Japan, the event is taking place at Amata Spring Country Club, a Golf Course Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
The partnership will see the event broadcast to over 20 million viewers across Thailand, giving them a taste of the quality and competitiveness of some of the best golfers in the world, as leading players from the men’s and women’s games prepare to represent Team Thailand and Team Japan respectively.
Already confirmed to compete are Thai stars Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Thongchai Jaidee, Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn, Pornanong Phatlum and Thidapa Suwannapura, as well as some of Japan’s most decorated golfers, Satoshi Kodaira, Hideto Tanihara, Kodai Ichihara and recent LPGA Tour winner Nasa Hataoka.
Host venue Amata Spring has previously staged the Thailand Golf Championships, Royal Trophy and Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.
PPTV HD 36’s association with this innovative event marks a new point in their development as a media channel. PPTV HD 36 will broadcast live action from the Amata Friendship Cup for three hours on each day of the tournament on television, while also streaming it on pptvhd36.com and PPTVHD36 application for four hours to give viewers a full experience of the quality of golf on offer.
PPTV HD 36 will help to build the anticipation of the event by showcasing the tournament through pre-event advertising. PPTV HD 36 joins Fox Sports, who will broadcast the event across Southeast Asia, Golf Network Japan and Golf Channel China, who will showcase the event in Japan and China respectively.
David Townend, Tournament Director and General Manager at Amata Spring Country Club, said: “We could not be happier to welcome PPTV HD 36 as a partner of the event. The quality of their sports broadcasting is fantastic, and we are excited to work with them to showcase the quality of golf on show to as many Thai fans as possible. With many star players confirmed, we are anticipating some great competition, and I’m sure it is something that will captivate Thai sports fans, as well as golf fans.”
Surin Krittayaphongphun, President of Bangkok Media and Broadcasting Co, Ltd (PPTV HD 36), said: “The Amata Friendship Cup is an exciting tournament. This will appeal to Thai golf fans for they can watch this tournament live. I look forward to co-operating with the Amata tournament for more years to come.”
