Shah Alam, Malaysia: A total of 80 golfers, comprising print and digital media from Malaysia and neighbouring Singapore in addition to valued retailers, event partners and sponsors, and top Club officials, lined up in Kota Permai Golf & Country Club’s (KPGCC) 2018 Media Golf Game.
Tang Meng Loon, Director, Club Operations & Townships, Gamuda Land, said: “This event is held annually as a mark of the Club’s appreciation for the valued partnerships and to celebrate both new and long-standing relationships with each participant.”
With the greens running at 12 feet on the Stimpmeter it was Media Prima’s Mahathir Mohamad who emerged the champion of the Media Category with a handicap of seven and 37 points in the Stableford System 36 format.
As well as a Callaway Rogue Driver and a trophy, Mohamad won a two-piece suit courtesy of Louis Remarque.
Aziz Hassan of the New Straits Times was runner-up with 36 points, while Utusan Malaysia’s Imran Mohd Nor was third.
In the Guest Category, pride of place went to Transview’s Kevin Chan who amassed 39 points, pipping KPGCC Golf Committee Chairman Ng Say Hoe on a countback. KPGCC’s Golf Committee’s Deputy Chairman Imran Gulcharan took third place on 37 points.
Prizes were handed out by Gamuda Berhad’s Executive Director Saw Wah Theng.
Tang said: “This very special gathering is held once every year. There are many old faces at our annual event here today, and some new ones too.
“Every year is a mission for us to bring you a bigger and better Media Golf Day. Towards this, I would like to record my deepest appreciation to the KPGCC team for their tireless effort and teamwork.”
