Praise for Norman Bunker Renovation

West Palm Beach, United States: Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) has announced the completion of bunker renovations at The Golf Club at Lansdowne in Leesburg, Virginia.
Located 35 miles outside Washington DC, the award-winning Norman Course at Lansdowne is an original GNGCD design that opened in 2005. GNGCD is a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation
As part of the renovation, the bunkers were regraded, reshaped and rebuilt incorporating a technically advanced drainage and liner system by Capillary Concrete. This new generation lining method increases the speed at which water flows through the sand and the lining; minimising contamination, reducing maintenance and producing consistency.
Chris Campbell, who originally directed the construction of the Norman Course, alongside Jeff Danner, oversaw the project. These enhancements were the first to the acclaimed course since it debuted 12 years ago.
“This bunker renovation is part of our continuous effort to deliver excellent playing conditions to Lansdowne’s members and guests,” said Craig Forgash, Director of Golf at The Golf Club at Lansdowne. “Our commitment to fine tuning our golf and hospitality assets is unwavering.”
Regarded as one of the mid-Atlantic’s premier golf resorts and private clubs, The Golf Club at Lansdowne is open to club members and guests of the Lansdowne Resort and Spa, a Destination Hotel, and offers 45-holes of golf – 27 holes designed by Norman (the Norman Course and Shark Bite), and 18 holes designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr.
The Golf Club at Lansdowne is managed by Troon, an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
“We are thrilled about Lansdowne’s continued commitment to upholding the quality, playability and functionality of the course,” said Norman. “Our recent renovation of the Norman course has received high praise from the members and guests alike and we look forward to the continued enjoyment it will bring to the resort for years to come.”
A leader in domestic and international redesign, restoration and remastering, GNGCD’s mission is to update courses to higher design standards while focusing on capital expenditures and lowering future maintenance and operating costs.
Greg Norman Golf Course Design boasts more than 100 courses opened across 34 countries and six continents, with many having won prestigious design awards. Among the firm’s 100 designs, five were included in Golf Digest’s 2016-2017 ‘World’s 100 Greatest’ rankings including Ellerston in Australia, (29th), New South Wales Golf Club, also in Australia (31st), The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip in Vietnam (74th), Indonesia’s Bali Nirwana (84th) and Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course in the United Arab Emirates (97th).
