Singapore: Golf in Asia is set to benefit from the appointment of Bruce Williams to the Board of the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).
A past President of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), Williams ranks among the global golfing industry’s most respected figures.
Williams currently represents Grigg Brothers and Brandt as the International Marketing Manager, working with their many distributors in Asia. Brandt is a Full Business Member of the AGIF.
“I have been visiting Asia since the early 1990s, providing training and education throughout the region,” said Williams.
“Over the past couple of years, I have attended many of the AGIF’s educational seminars related to turfgrass and club management. I applaud them for their efforts to help grow the game and improve overall standards at golf clubs in Asia.
“I’m pleased to join the Federation as a Board member and I very much look forward to contributing to its continued success and development in the years ahead.”
A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College with a BA in English and speech pathology, Williams also graduated from the Michigan State University Turfgrass Management Programme.
Over the course of the past 30 years, Williams has coached, mentored and trained more than 150 men and women who have become superintendents, industry professionals and professors, as well as teaching workshops and seminars throughout North America and abroad.
He has conducted more than 150 presentations for the GCSAA, Club Managers Association of America, Professional Golfers’ Association, United States Golf Association, National Golf Foundation and various educational institutions.
Last year, Williams was the CMAA Certified/Designated presenter of the AGIF-organised Business Management Institute Asia Pacific education course in Bangkok.
Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Bruce to the Board. His experience within the industry will be an invaluable asset.
“Bruce possesses an astonishing breadth and depth of experience in the golfing industry and he is a superb communicator.”
