Kota Permai Senior Club Manager Sheren Yong receives the HAPA Golf Course of the Year Award.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Course Facility Member Kota Permai has been named Golf Course of the Year in the HAPA (Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards) Regional Series Awards 2016-2018.
The awards ceremony in the Berjaya Times Square Hotel saw a gathering of hospitality professionals from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, present to celebrate achievements in hospitality excellence.
All on-site assessments were conducted incognito by HAPA’s panel of auditors, comprising hospitality industry professionals, academics, writers and corporate professionals in each fraternity.
Another highlight of the event was the introduction of a new benchmark system whereby the HAPA Awards enable properties and personalities to benchmark themselves in accordance with the criteria set for each category, and nominees who have surpassed the respective category benchmark score receive an Award for Excellence for their achievements.

Jennifer Ong said: “The objective of introducing a new face to the HAPA Awards is to connect the Awards programme to the people in the industry. Hospitality is essentially a ‘people’ industry, managed by the people for the people and from all quarters.
“The human element is something that goes hand-in-hand with outstanding hospitality achievement. It is, therefore, our honour and privilege to pay tribute to those who have excelled exceptionally through dedication, commitment and performance.”
Meanwhile, Kota Permai has also bagged a couple of other accolades.
For the fourth consecutive year, Kota Permai won the Excellence Award in the Best Golf Experience category by the Expatriate Lifestyle’s Best of Malaysia Awards 2016.
The Best of Malaysia Awards is the biggest independent travel and hospitality awards in the country that’s 100 per cent reader-voted by the expatriate community.
Kota Permai’s stock rose further when it was named Best Course in Malaysia in the Golf Magazine Awards.

The Golf Magazine Top 10 Courses in Malaysia Awards were determined by a panel, comprising golf writers, rules officials, golf industry leaders, turf experts and professional golfers.
Readers had the chance to vote for their choice of the top 10 courses in the country via the Golf Magazine’s website and print magazine.
