Hong Kong: The Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA) has hosted a special event earlier for Tiffany Chan Tsz-ching as the local amateur sensation makes her final preparations for the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro.
The 22-year-old former Diocesan Girls School student, who was joined at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Deep Water Bay by those closest to her, will make her debut in the US Women’s Amateur in the first week of August before meeting up with the Hong Kong delegation in Brazil.
Chan, a product of the HKGA’s junior development programme, said: “It was the perfect Olympic send-off. The messages of congratulations and attention I’ve received since my place in Rio was confirmed have been overwhelming.
“I am truly thankful for all the support I have had from everyone involved in Hong Kong golf and beyond. I will do my best and hope to make Hong Kong proud.”
Mark Chan, President of the HKGA, said: “Tiffany has long been a wonderful ambassador for Hong Kong golf and we’re delighted that she is going to become Hong Kong’s very first golfing Olympian.
“I have no doubt that her achievement will inspire a whole generation of Hong Kong golfers and we look forward to supporting her at the Rio Olympics and beyond.”
