Wang Jeung-hun aced another victory after being honoured as the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month for May.
The May standout completed back-to-back victories with a come-from-behind one-shot triumph in the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, barely a week after he had broken through in Morocco.
Wang pipped Bangladeshi
Siddikur Rahman on the last hole with a birdie to win the tournament tri-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, European Tour and Sunshine Tour.
Those two victories also earned the 20-year-old a place in the record books as the youngest player to secure back-to-back triumphs in European golf history.
The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.
“I’m so happy that my achievements have been recognised by Hilton Worldwide and fans who have voted for me. It has been a great season so far and I can only look forward to more good things to come as the season goes on,” said Wang.
The online voting contest on asiantour.hiltongolf.com to determine the monthly winner engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2016.
Besides casting their vote for their favourite player on the Asian Tour, fans who log onto asiantour.hiltongolf.com also stand a chance to win a one night stay at any Hilton property of their choice.
Wang won the award ahead of compatriot
Kim Kyung-tae and Sweden’s
Rikard Karlberg. The trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.
Hilton Worldwide is a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
