Singapore: Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat has been named Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month for April, thanks largely to his commendable performance at the Masters Tournament.
Kiradech fired a final round two-under-par 70 at Augusta National to finish tied for 15th, his best finish in a Major championship.
It was a Masters debut to remember for the 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion, who earned his place in the year’s opening Major after finishing in the top-50 of the Official World Golf Ranking at the end of last season.
The Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award is one of the partnership initiatives aimed at recognising outstanding efforts of Asian Tour members both at home and abroad.
“My result at the Masters showed that my game has improved and I can play against the best. Winning the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month is a huge bonus and motivation to do even better. Thanks to all my fans who have voted for me,” said Kiradech.
The online voting contest on asiantour.hiltongolf.com to determine the monthly winner, engages golf fans as they vote for their favourite golfer through the Asian Tour’s media channels, culminating with fans voting for the Asian Tour Hilton Golfer of the Year at the end of 2016.
Besides casting their vote for their favourite player on the Asian Tour, fans who log onto asiantour.hiltongolf.com also stand a chance to win a one-night stay at any Hilton property of their choice.
Kiradech won the award ahead of Koreans Lee Soo-min and Kim Kyung-tae. The trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.
Kiradech is the second Thai to win the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award after compatriot Thongchai Jaidee swept the award in November last year.
