Singapore: A trio of Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Facility Members have been recognised among an elite list of Platinum Clubs of the World for 2015.
The Hong Kong Golf Club [71st], Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club [89th] and Singapore’s Sentosa Golf Club [94th] all featured in the top-100.
A spokesman for Club Leaders Forum, which oversees the voting, said: “The 2015 Platinum Clubs of the World represents the standard of excellence for the finest private golf and country clubs around the globe.”
Utilising the Platinum Clubs of the World six criteria, the Platinum Clubs of the World Panel – comprised of 100 private club industry experts and golf connoisseurs – completed its confidential ballot consisting of 630 clubs from 58 countries over a 30-day period.
Club Leaders Forum has conducted the pre-eminent recognition of private clubs in America for more than 20 years – Platinum Clubs of America.
This was the second biennial election for Platinum Clubs of the World.
The top-100 clubs who received the most points were awarded Platinum Clubs of the World status.
In 2015, clubs were numerically ranked from 1-100, as opposed to the 2013 Platinum Clubs of the World vote, where the top-100 clubs were published alphabetically.
The next 75 clubs who received the most votes were listed alphabetically and are strong candidates for Platinum Clubs of the World recognition in 2017. Among them is Singapore’s Tanah Merah Country Club, a Golf Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
Topping the 2015 charts was The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews with Augusta National in second place.
