Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia:
Chang Thean Siang began 2016 with a bang as he swept to victory in Kota Permai Golf & Country Club’s Champion of Champions.
Mastering the slick greens that were running at 10.5 on the Stimpmeter, Chang fired a two-under-par 70 to claim top place in the gross category.
The three-handicapper finished seven shots clear of second-placed
William Cheah Kwai Leong.
A total of 120 players took part in the event at the award-winning club, a Golf Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
In the hotly-contested nett segment, 10-handicapper
Ainul Hasri Shah emerged triumphant with a score of 69 – one ahead of
Chia Kim Seng,
Khoo Gee Seng,
Ang Kwi Eng and
Lim Yeow Leng.
One of the highlights of the prize-giving ceremony was the crowning of the club’s Golfer of the Year for 2015,
Willie Lim.
The gathering also enabled the club and its members to reflect on a successful year during which Kota Permai captured a host of awards including Best Course in Malaysia by the IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) Excellence Awards and Best Maintained Golf Course in Malaysia (Malaysian Golf Awards).
