Fairhaven, United States: Fifteen years after becoming the first player to win with a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball, Billy Andrade (Pro V1) used it again to capture his first career individual Champions Tour title at the Boeing Classic.
Andrade finished at nine-under-par for a 207 total after opening with scores of 69 and 65 to take a three-shot lead into the final round. He never lost the lead and edged fellow golf ball loyalist Bernhard Langer (Pro V1) by one shot.
Titleist was the top golf ball of choice at the Boeing Classic with 56 players in the field of 81 trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success. That’s eight times the nearest competitor with seven and more than all competitors combined.
Titleist was also the field favourite in the iron (17) category and Titleist Vokey Design wedges were the top choice in the approach, sand and lob wedge (41) category.
Andrade’s win is the 11th for Titleist players on the 2015 Champions Tour, more than twice the nearest competitor with five.
Elsewhere, Titleist Brand Ambassador Patton Kizzire (Pro V1x) captured the News Sentinel Open for his second Web.com Tour title of the season.
Kizzire closed with his second straight seven-under 64 to post a 20-under 264 victory total. Kizzire finished four strokes ahead of two players, including fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Brad Fritsch (Pro V1).
Kizzire, who won the Utah Championship last month, maintains his top spot on the Web.com ‘The 25’ money list with this latest victory.
Also savouring success were Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jean Hugo and David Bransdon.
Hugo (Pro V1x) captured the Vodacom Origin of Golf at San Lameer to earn his 16th career Sunshine Tour title. Hugo finished with a six-under 210 victory total, one shot clear of Titleist golf ball loyalists Peter Karmis (Pro V1x) and Derick Petersen (Pro V1x). JC Ritchie (Pro V1x) finished solo fifth.
Bransdon recorded (Pro V1x) his third career win on the PGA Tour of Australasia with a victory at the Queensland Open. Bransdon topped fellow golf ball loyalist Rohan Blizzard (Pro V1x)with a birdie on the third hole of a sudden-death play-off. Both players finished at 12-under, a tournament record at Brookwater GC.
