Phuket, Thailand: Asian Tour Order of Merit leader and world number 45 Anirban Lahiri has praised Laguna Phuket Golf Club’s renovated course and practice facilities.
During a recent visit to the Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Course Facility member, the Indian star stayed at the internationally renowned resort Banyan Tree Phuket and practiced at the Phuket facility.
Lahiri, who will compete in next week’s Open Championship at St Andrews, said: “I played here during the Thailand Open in 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Laguna Phuket. After my friend and fellow Tour Pro Shiv Kapur told me about the amazing new facilities, I decided to check it out.
“I am impressed by the improvements that have been made. The golf course is more interesting and challenging than before with its intriguing strategic layout. The practice facilities are as good as we get on the Tour. Staying in the stunning Banyan Tree pool villa, only a few steps away from the golf club, is truly a privilege for any golfer.”
During his two-day stopover, Lahiri fine-tuned his game and also found time to motivate some local junior golfers by conducting a golf clinic at the practice range and playing nine holes with three promising Phuket-based golfers.
Laguna Phuket Golf Club’s thoroughly redesigned course features a wealth of scenic lagoons, coconut groves and undulating fairways. Along with the 18-hole golf course, the new practice facilities are world-class.
Paul Wilson, Laguna Phuket’s Director of Golf, said: “We have fully invested in our practice facilities, creating a top quality grass driving range, providing top quality golf balls and ensuring extensive short game practice greens. Having top international professional players such as Anirban visiting Laguna Phuket Golf Club is fantastic and it has been our great pleasure hosting him.”
Laguna Phuket Golf Club has launched new five-year and 10-year Family Golf Memberships. Each membership includes the lead name adult, the spouse and two children under 21 years.
Members can enjoy the alluring new golf course with golf carts available and luxury clubhouse facilities. In addition, members will receive fantastic privileges at hotels, restaurants and spas in the Laguna Phuket integrated resort destination, along with reciprocal playing rights at over 200 top golf courses worldwide.
