Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Riding on a global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the golf hospitality industry, Kota Permai Golf & Country Club has been hailed as Malaysia’s Best Golf Course by the World Golf Awards.
It is the latest accolade for the Asian Golf Industry Federation Golf Facility member.
World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations. World Golf Awards is part of World Travel Awards, currently celebrating its 21st anniversary.
The worldwide voting process began on June 20 and closed on October 2, 2014. Votes were cast by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry such as senior executives, travel buyers, tour operators, agents and media professionals.
Tang Meng Loon, Gamuda Land Clubs Group General Manager, said: “It is a tremendous honour to receive this award as it recognises the top-notch quality of golfing available at our course, something that we can be proud of.
“The continuous support from our directors and gargantuan effort by the management, staffs and with the support of our members attributed to this success.”
Malaysia was named ‘Asia’s Best Golf Destination 2014’ at the inaugural World Golf Awards held in Portugal last month. Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, YB Dato’ Sri
Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, said: “We are pleased to receive these recognitions. The awards motivate us to strengthen our effort to promote Malaysia as a popular year-round golf destination.”
Ng Eu Shen, President of the Malaysia Golf Tourism Association (MGTA), said: “Kota Permai Golf & Country Club has long been recognised as one of the best maintained golf clubs in the region. I’m very pleased this recognition has now been brought to the attention at the World Golf Awards.
