John Deere World Championship Brings Industry to the Desert

John Deere Trophy LOWCalifornia, United States: The John Deere World Championship returned to its roots at the PGA West Stadium Course in La Quinta.
Dean Miller, Director of Agronomy at PGA West and La Quinta Resort, welcomed the World Championship, celebrating its 28th year.
Bragging rights and a new travelling trophy went to Cole Combs and Alan Nietenhoefer of P&K Equipment, Derron Day of FireLake Golf Club, and Kyle Phillips of VGM Club, who racked up a total score of 101, and won the two-day tournament after a shootout on the 18th hole on the Nicklaus Course.
“We are honoured to present our champions with the new John Deere Cady Trophy, named after John Deere’s grandson, a golf silver medallist in the 1904 Olympics,” said Dave Plaster, North American Sales Manager, John Deere Golf.
“Through this new trophy, we want to honour the long-standing traditions of golf, commemorate our history, and illustrate our on-going commitment to the game.”
Every year, winners will be engraved as the Cady Trophy travels to the site of the World Championship.
The World Championship is an opportunity for international golf course maintenance professionals to join their colleagues and John Deere personnel for team building and professional networking.
This year’s tournament included 57 golfers from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Sweden.
A world leader in providing advanced products and services for agriculture, forestry, construction, lawn and turf care, landscaping and irrigation, John Deere is an Executive Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.
