Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: World number one
Stacy Lewis has confirmed her place in the starting line-up for next month’s fifth edition of the US$2 million Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.
American Lewis, who has recorded three wins and 14 top-10 finishes so far this year, will headline a star-studded field at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) from October 9-12.
“Everything is going fairly well at the moment,” said Lewis. “I am pleased with my year so far and would like to finish strong. I always look forward to the Sime Darby LPGA tournament and it would be fun to play well in Malaysia.”
Also taking part over the KLGCC’s East Course will be
Suzann Pettersen (world number four),
Ryu So-yeon (5),
Anna Nordqvist (10),
Cristie Kerr (11) and
Jessica Korda (19).
They will join defending champion
Lexi Thompson (7) and teenage sensation
Lydia Ko (3).
Norway’s Pettersen, who tied for third last year, said: “It is such a good course and a great event. The conditions are always a factor so you’ve got to stay focused with the hot weather, but it is a beautiful place to play golf.”
A total of 75 players will compete at KLGCC – 63 from the LPGA Tour, six Malaysian nationals and a further six sponsor exemptions.
