Seoul, Korea: Troon has been selected to manage Gold Hill Country Club, a new golf club situated one hour from the South Korean capital of Seoul.

The long-term agreement will see Gold Hill Country Club become an official Troon Golf facility, with Troon International providing market leading support in a range of areas, including, development and pre-opening services, post-opening agronomy, marketing and operations services.

Set to commence with a soft opening in the coming months, followed by a grand opening by the end of 2024, Gold Hill Country Club promises to deliver an exceptional new experience to a burgeoning domestic market.

The 2023 R&A Global Golf Participation Report highlighted South Korea’s significant presence in the global golf community.

Ranked third in the world for the total number of golfers, with 5.35 million enthusiasts, South Korea also boasts the highest proportion of female golfers globally, topping the chart at 45 per cent.

A fully floodlit course at Gold Hill Country Club will offer further opportunities for South Korean golfers to engage with the sport, allowing for participation far beyond sunset, and attracting a broader range of visitors to the course.

Under the ownership of The Ramid Group and with the expertise of Troon International on board, Gold Hill Country Club has ambitious plans to establish itself in South Korea’s vibrant golfing landscape.

Moon Byeong-wook, Chief Executive Officer of The Ramid Group, said: Embarking on an exhilarating journey at Gold Hill Country Club, we’re thrilled to announce Troon International’s exceptional leadership guiding our path forward. With their unmatched expertise, we’re poised to achieve success.

“South Korea’s fervent passion for golf fuels our determination. We’re committed to channeling this energy into crafting an 18-hole course that not only delights our members and guests but also leaves a lasting, enchanting impression with every visit.”

DJ Flanders, Executive Vice President of Troon International, said: “It’s an immensely exciting opportunity for Troon International to return to South Korea.

“In the Gold Hill Country Club, we are working with an organisation who are driven to deliver the best possible experience to its guests when it opens its doors this year.

“The continued growth of Troon International around the world is testament to our outstanding track record, customer service and the value we provide to golf clubs.

“We approach each golf course with the unique touch that it requires, but through leveraging our global resources, we can help push them to that next level, achieving results that they desire.”
