Appreciation Award for AGIF Linchpin Walne

Singapore: Richard Walne’s contributions to the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) have been acknowledged with the presentation of a special plaque.

Walne has been a linchpin of the AGIF since its inauguration more than a decade ago.

One of the Federation’s founding members, he’s been an-ever present on the Board since 2009, acting as President for the past four years.

Although he stood down from his post at last week’s annual general meeting, Walne will continue to play an active role in the AGIF, most notably in regard to the Certificate in Greenkeeping initiative which he was instrumental in launching.

In recognition of his sterling service, Walne has been given the title as President Emeritus and made an honorary Individual Member of the AGIF.

Currently in Singapore in his role as Managing Director, Asia-Pacific and Australia with The Toro Company, Walne was further honoured with the presentation of a plaque in appreciation of his efforts.

“On behalf of all our members this is a small token of our gratitude to Richard for everything he has done for the Federation over the course of the past 13 years,” said Chris Gray, who has succeeded Walne as the AGIF’s President.

Walne said: “Everyone associated or connected with the AGIF – the Board, members and staff – should be proud of the representation we have across the region.

“My thanks to everyone who has been involved in the AGIF during my time as a Board Member, since our inception over 10 years ago, and as President during the last four years.

“I’m proud that the Federation has developed and grown and look forward to seeing this trend continue under the guidance of a new President and the incoming Board.”
