The SICC’s New Course has been GEO Certified.

Singapore: Just two years old, The Singapore Island Country Club’s (SICC) New Course is now GEO Certified.

It’s the SICC’s second accredited golf course, following The Bukit Course, which was certified in November 2022.

Being GEO Certified means that the golf course has achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf.

Administered by Scotland-based GEO Foundation (GEO), the award is a comprehensive modern certification, developed to the highest credibility standard, to help golf facilities, developments and tournaments demonstrate and be recognised for their environmental and social responsibility.

The certification process covers four core areas; to foster nature, to conserve resources, to build the community, and to take climate action.

SICC, with its unique position next to a nature reserve with rich flora and fauna, will continue to focus on community engagement programmes to develop these core sustainability pillars.

“Achieving another accreditation is an added accolade for our sustainability journey,” said Vincent Wee, President at SICC, a Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“I am glad to have a truly exceptional team that drives many on-going practical, social, and environmental initiatives that are widespread across our golf operation and beyond,” he added.

Brad Revill, GEO accredited independent verifier, said: “A very beautiful facility and location on the reservoir with a team dedicated to protecting the environment and wildlife around their property.

“They are very proud of the amazing tree specimens present and the unique property in general and continue to do a fantastic job maintaining and improving upon them.

“I look forward to seeing the continued progress over the next three years as they have a fantastic opportunity to set some high standards for the rest of the region.”

The Island Course will not undergo any GEO certification at this stage as the course is scheduled to commence redevelopment works in 2023.
